| Essential
Fatty Acids produce Prostaglandins (E2), which have
an anti-inflammatory effect. Regular intake of EFA’s
may prevent a need for harmful prescription anti-inflammatories.
They are also useful in reducing the effects of carcinogens
and radiation.
A
shortage of Essential Fatty Acids is a known contributing
reason behind:
- Pronounced
menstrual symptoms – cramps, irritability
- Eczema/Dermatitis,
other rashes or dry skin
- Dry
Eye Syndrome and Blephritis (dermatitis around the
eyes)
- Joint
and muscle aches and diseases – arthritis,
fibromyalgia, other bodily inflammation, even as
serious as Lupus
- Allergies
- Fatigue
- Symptoms
of menopause such as hot flashes and vaginal dryness
- Mood
swings, and a shortage can even contribute to ADD/ADHD
in young girls
- Improper
functions of heart, liver, kidneys
- Diabetes
and other blood sugar imbalances
Essential
Fatty Acids can be found in some foods, but we could
never eat enough of them:
- Fish
oil – salmon is best (but B blood types need
to limit salmon intake), followed by tuna, mackerel
and swordfish.
- Non-instant
oatmeal, almonds, sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds
- Avocados
and some other vegetables and fruits
- Flax
seed and flax seed oil, borage oil, black currant
oil, primrose oil (very good for aches and pains),
and vegetable oils – especially olive oil.
