What is Homeopathy?
For many people looking for a natural way to improve their health and maintain a healthy lifestyle, homeopathy may be a good choice. But what is homeopathy, and how can it benefit a person's health?
The answer to what is homeopathy can get a little complicated because the general practice has been around for centuries, and new advances in the practice have caused modern homeopaths to adapt their practice to suit a variety of needs. However, what we consider to be traditional or classical homeopathy began in the 1700s in Germany with a doctor named Samuel Hahnemann.
Hahnemenn wanted to find a more natural way to treat common conditions, and through studies and research, discovered ancient treatments in which natural substances were used to treat a variety of ailments. Through his studies, he discovered the concept of "like cures like", in which substances that cause symptoms in a healthy person can be used to treat the same symptoms in a sick person.
Since then, many other types of homeopathy have been developed to treat a wider variety of conditions, and the answer to "what is homeopathy" has broadened considerably from its humble origins.
If you are considering homeopathy or would like more information on what is homeopathy and its definition, your health care provider may be able to provide you with more information and homeopathy education, or recommend homeopathic treatments that will benefit you.
