Weight Loss, Exercise and a Healthy Diet are the Best Way to Shed Pounds

Weight loss exercisesDespite all the gimmicks that have been advertised over the years, from extreme workouts to surgery, researchers have proven time and again that the best way to achieve sustained weight loss is with moderate exercise and a balanced diet. If your workout has become too dull for you, choose some of the following activities over the course of a week to create an exciting new exercise weight loss program:

  • Outdoor activities: walking, jogging, biking, and swimming outside are great ways to increase your heart rate and lose weight while getting fresh air and enjoying the scenery.
  • Recreation and class activities: joining an adult soccer league or taking part in a pick-up basketball game will provide you with exercise and fun. You may also enjoy yoga, spin, or kickboxing classes once or several times a week.
  • Gym activities: If it's too hot or too cold outside, it's especially nice to hit the gym for weight training or a treadmill session. Gyms also have personal trainers that can provide you with different types of exercises for weight loss.
  • Moderate-intensity activities: These include things that you may already do in your everyday life such as raking leaves, walking up the stairs, mowing the lawn, or playing actively with your children. By increasing the quantity of these activities in your day, and performing them with more intensity, you can get increase your heart rate and burn calories.

Experts suggest 30 minutes or more of exercise or other physical activity per day to gain significant health benefits. Moderate to intense exercise is best for weight loss, but if you haven't been active in a while, starting with less intense exercises is advisable.
