The Body Mass
Index is a diagnostic tool meant to measure the weight status
in adults over the age of 20. The BMI ranges are based on
the effect that body weight has on disease and death. Common
conditions related to being overweight and obese are:
Premature death
Cardiovascular disease
High blood pressure
Osteoarthritis
Some cancers
DiabetesIt is possible to have two
people with the same BMI, but they have a different percentage
of body fat. Someone may have more muscle than fat, but
be the same size (weight & height) as someone who is overweight.
