Ways
to Relieve Stress
Whether
you live in New York City or the Black Hills of South Dakota, you
will experience stress in one form or another. Most of us are familiar
with urban stressors such as phones ringing, rush-hour traffic,
work deadlines, and financial worries. Therefore, from coast to
coast and desert to prairie, all of us can benefit with a list of
ways to relieve stress.
Stress
can affect you physically, emotionally, and psychologically. While
not all types of stress are unhealthy, there are several ways in
which stress can lead to long-term physical ailments. Exposure to
chronic stress has been known to cause headaches, a weakened immune
system, depression, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, tooth and
gum disease, ulcers, and other stomach problems. You may not be
able to completely avoid the things that stress you out, but you
can learn some of the following ways to relieve stress:

- Get regular exercise and enough sleep

take you away from the stressful situation and give you a better
perspective. Many people have found that keeping a journal is one
of the most useful ways to relieve stress. By writing down a list
of which situations cause you to be stressed out, you can learn
how to cope better with those situations the next time.
