Ubiquinol: The Power Antioxidant
Ubiquinol is the active antioxidant form created by ubiquinone, also known as coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10). When we are young, our bodies produce more than enough ubiquinol to fight off the free radicals caused by the oxidation process. These free radicals damage many types of cells and are believed to lead to conditions like arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, and other depilating illnesses.
Because of its superior ability to fend off free radicals as a hydrophobic (fat soluble) antioxidant and maintain good general health, many people choose to turn to ubiquinol supplements for benefits such as:
- Support of optimum cardiovascular and cognitive health
- Regeneration of other antioxidants, like vitamins C and E, for added protection against free radicals
- Energy for vital organs
- Protection against premature aging
- Increased energy and stamina
People over 40 generally do not produce enough ubiquinol, and because of this many health care providers recommend a multivitamin or supplement regimen that contains ubiquinol or CoQ10 to help promote general health as we age.
