Speed
Up Metabolism to Speed Up Weight Loss
Many dieters blame
their weight loss struggles on a slow metabolism, and in many respects,
they may be right. Metabolism is the way your body turns food into
fuel, and also the way your body burns fuel. Everyone’s metabolism
depends on an intricate system of chemical reactions, and some people’s
metabolisms naturally burn calories faster than others. There are,
however, ways you can speed up metabolism in your own body to help
you lose weight.
Interestingly,
the heavier you are, the faster your metabolism is. Your body must
burn more calories to maintain your current weight. As you lose
weight, your metabolism will slow down a little, so it’s important
to speed up your metabolism as a part of your weight loss program.
Otherwise, you may lose weight at first, but then hit a weight loss
plateau as your metabolism reaches equilibrium with your new, lower
weight. Here are some easy, natural ways to speed up metabolism:
- Aerobic workouts speed up
metabolism for hours after the workout
- Weight training will speed
up metabolism for an even longer period of time after the workout
than aerobic workouts
- Building muscle mass will
speed up metabolism whether you are working out or at rest
- Eat 3 high-protein, low calorie
(250 or less) snacks in addition to 3 small meals to speed up
metabolism throughout the day
We all wish we
could be one of those lucky few who can eat whatever they want and
not gain weight. At least you can speed up metabolism with aerobic
exercise, building muscle mass, and eating regular meals and snacks.
