Sleep Inducing Tea Recipes Promote Rest and Relaxation

One of the most popular natural sleep aids available is tea. Often infused with relaxing herbs and other natural substances, sleep aid tea and other teas for insomnia help you relax through a combination of aromatherapy and natural sleep inducing chemicals. Using tea for sleep is a safe and easy way to help put yourself in a relaxed state of mind as you prepare for bed.

Some popular herbal tea choices to aid in sleep and relaxation are:
  • Valerian – Teas infused with valerian root are very effective as a mild sedative and have been shown to be a great tea for insomnia relief.
  • Chamomile – A mild sleep aid, German Chamomile has also been shown to help ease upset stomachs and irritable bowel syndrome.
  • Lemon Balm – A common tea additive, it promotes relaxation. However, it shouldn’t be used if you are taking medicines for thyroid problems.
  • Lavender – Commonly used in aromatherapy, lavender tea is a very relaxing drink to calm your mind and body before bed.
  • Ginseng – Although it is often found in energy drinks, ginseng tea is believed to reduce stress levels and promote relaxation.
  • Hops – Often used in conjunction with valerian.
Most sleep aid tea recipes are safe for daily use, but as with any new health regimen it is important to consult with your doctor to identify any allergies or complications that may arise. Contact VÄXA for more information about sleep tea for relaxation and other natural sleep aids.
