Pemphigus
- Symptoms and Treatments
Pemphigus is an autoimmune
disorder that triggers blister-like sores on the skin or in your
mouth and genitals. It is a chronic condition that can affect anyone
at any age, but is more common in people who are over age 50, and
it has a higher percentage of occurrences in people of Middle Eastern
descent. The symptoms include small blisters that rupture and ooze,
and they may also be accompanied by fever, chills, and muscle aches.
Your doctor may determine you have pemphigus by doing blood tests
or a skin biopsy.
Treatments for Pemphigus:
Pemphigus is an autoimmune disorder and can cause widespread damage
throughout your body. Treatments for pemphigus include immunosuppressants
combined with antibiotics and antifungal medications. Severe pemphigus
may require hospitalization. If you think you may have pemphigus,
you should voice your concerns to your physician or healthcare provider.
The earlier you can catch the development of pemphigus, the more
likely you will be to gain control your symptoms.
