Keloid
- Scarring that Won't Disappear
Keloids are scars that essentially
take on a life all their own. Generally, after your wounds disappear,
you are left with a scar that at least resembles the original wound.
With a keloid scar, however, the scar can spread to other areas
of the skin beyond the original area of the wound and take on a
completely different appearance. Unlike typical scars, keloids can
itch and even be painful to the touch. There are various wounds
that can result in keloids, including:
- Surgery
- Acne
- Burns
- Piercings
If you feel that you may be suffering from
keloids, you should consult a dermatologist. There are various options
available for keloid removal. Ask your physician what course of
treatment is best suited to your needs. Over-the-counter treatments
for itching and burning may also provide some relief for the pain
and itching associated with this condition.
