Dermatofibromas
- Symptoms and Treatments
Dermatofibromas are small, rounded,
non-cancerous bumps that may appear either flesh colored, slightly
pink, or brown. They most often occur to women on their arms and
legs. They are hard, and can be quite painful. Though dermatofibromas
are harmless, it is best to consult a physician to rule out the
presence of a more serious skin condition. There are different options
for removal of dermatofibromas, including:
- Freezing
- Electosurgery
- Topical steroid treatments
- More
Even though dermatofibromas are benign,
they can be both annoying and mildly painful, so removal may be
the best option. Because it appears very similar to some different
forms of skin cancer, it is always best to seek a physician’s
opinion when you have an unexplainable skin lesion that is not healing
on its own.
