Situational Depression and How it Can Affect You
Clinical or manic depression can strike a person without a cause. They may take hold of someone who has a family history of depression; theorized causes can range from biological, environmental, psychological and medical.
Still, for someone going through situational depression, the cause is quite evident. The loss of a job, a car accident, the death of a loved one, a house fire; these can contribute to a person’s situational depression. Life is the cause.
Causes for situational depression can vary among people. One person can become depressed after gaining weight while another won’t. One person can be sad about losing their job while the other moves on.
The length of time a person has situational depression can depend on the severity of the situation or how grave a person perceives the circumstance to be. Someone may recuperate after several days, while others can be depressed for years.
Although situational depression isn’t chemical, sufferers should still seek medical attention to cure it.
