Are Saliva pH Strips Right for You?
If you've been looking for a quick and easy way to test your body's pH level, but the thought of urinating onto a test strip doesn't sound like something you want to do, consider using saliva pH strips instead. Less invasive and less messy than a urine test strip, saliva pH strips work when you put clean saliva onto a strip and the strip changes color based the acidity or alkalinity of your body.
In order for the pH test strip to work, you must follow these instructions:
- Remember not to eat for 2 hours before the test.
- Fill your mouth with saliva twice and swallow, to ensure your mouth is clean.
- On the third try, put some saliva onto a test strip.
- See what color the strip changes to.
- If the strip does not show that your body is slightly alkaline, you may want to wait two hours and retry the test.
It's important that to maintain a slightly alkaline pH level in your saliva and urine, ranging from 6.5 to 7.5, since overly acidic and alkaline pH levels can indicate your susceptibility to a wealth of problems, including fatigue, tooth decay, slower healing, and more. If you find after using saliva pH strips that your pH is imbalanced, you may want to talk to a doctor for more information and to rule out the possibility of a serious health problem that may be associated with imbalanced pH levels.
