Organophosphates and the Effects of Prolonged Exposure
Organophosphates are some of the most potent, and common, pesticides used in agriculture and landscaping. Despite their prevalence, organophosphates and their effects are now being studied to determine the long-term complications. One of the potential conditions that are now being attributed to organophosphates effects is ADHD.
Aside from their potential contribution to the development of ADHD in children who eat food that have been treated with organophosphates, the effects can include:
- Headaches
- Nausea
- Vision impairment
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Diarrhea
- Tremors
- Fainting
- Respiratory problems
- Much more
If you suspect you or your child have been exposed to organophosphates and are experiencing the effects of contamination, contact your doctor. He or she will be able to help you determine the cause of your symptoms and whether they are related to pesticide exposure or are resulting from another condition that may or may not have been caused by organophosphate poisoning.
