Normal pH and How to Maintain Healthy Levels
PH, or potential of hydrogen, is a measurement used to determine the acidity or alkalinity of a liquid. Ranging from 0-14 with seven being neutral, pH is an important aspect of human health since our bodies are made up mostly of different types of fluids. Normal levels for your body is between 7.35 and 7.45 and is slightly alkaline pH. When pH dips below these levels and becomes acidic pH, it can cause serious problems for your body. Even levels slightly below normal pH may cause fatigue, weak bones, potentially increased chances for some conditions, and much more.
Thankfully, it's usually easy to maintain a normal pH by following practices such as:
- Maintaining a healthy diet - Your body use the foods we eat to regulate pH throughout our bodies. Alkaline minerals, like calcium and magnesium, come from our diet and are used to neutralize acid. Eating a diet rich in fruits and vegetables is another way we can help your body naturally maintain normal pH.
- Get plenty of exercise - It has been suggested that people who live active lifestyles not only lead healthier lives, but also have a healthy level of body pH.
- Take daily supplements - Many people find it difficult to get all the nutrients they need from their diet to balance their pH and live a healthy life. Thankfully, there are several supplements available that contain alkaline minerals to help your body maintain normal pH.
Maintaining a normal pH balance doesn't have to be difficult. By eating healthfully, exercising, and taking a daily multivitamin, you can help to provide your body with everything it needs to function at its highest potential.
