Natural Immune Support Strategies
When flu and cold season comes around, some people resign themselves to getting sick because it seems unavoidable.
Here are some strategies to include:
- Getting a good night's sleep. The body uses its time at rest to repair any damage to the body, which could include the initial battle wounds inflicted by illness. If you don't get enough sleep, then your immune system may never get a good chance to battle what ails you.
- Eating a balanced diet. The wide variety nutrients that provide natural immune support help your system to function properly and come from all types of foods, including fruits and vegetables, meat, grains, and even dairy. If you eat a diet that excludes one or more of these food groups - or you replace them with foods made mostly from sugar and fat - your body won't have the right tools to fight infection.
- Avoiding Stress. Stress stimulates chemicals in your body like adrenaline, which are made to help you cope with crisis situations. While these can be helpful in the right setting, prolonged exposure can suppress your immune function, making you more susceptible to illness.
