A (Vitamin A, Vit.A, Retinol, Vitamin A Palmitate)
An antioxidant
thought to be essential for normal function of the
retina, Vitamin A aids in the soothing of many eye
disorders, promotes bone growth and tooth development,
and helps the body form and maintain fine healthy
skin, hair and mucus membranes. Vitamin A also plays
a role in cell division and reproduction.
Vitamin
A is used to preserve a smooth skin texture, prevent
dryness, and avoid blemishes or hasten their correction.
Deficiency can cause eruptions or dry, course, wrinkled
skin; dry hair or dandruff; ridging or peeling fingernails,
as well as night blindness and lowered immunity. Vitamin
A may be derived from plant or animal sources, and
is notably found in carrots. Recommended daily intakes
for adult men and women are 900mcg and 700mcg, respectively.
