A (Vitamin A, Vit.A, Retinol, Vitamin A Palmitate)
An antioxidant thought to be essential
for normal function of the retina, Vitamin A aids in the soothing
of many eye disorders, promotes bone growth and tooth development,
and helps the body form and maintain fine healthy skin, hair
and mucus membranes. Vitamin A also plays a role in cell division
and reproduction.
Vitamin A is used to preserve a smooth skin
texture, prevent dryness, and avoid blemishes or hasten their
correction. Deficiency can cause eruptions or dry, course,
wrinkled skin; dry hair or dandruff; ridging or peeling fingernails,
as well as night blindness and lowered immunity. Vitamin A
may be derived from plant or animal sources, and is notably
found in carrots. Recommended daily intakes for adult men
and women are 900mcg and 700mcg, respectively.
