Super Oxidase Dismutase (SOD)
SOD, an acronym standing for Super
Oxidase Dismutase, is an enzyme which works to convert free
radicals to less dangerous molecules, detoxifying the tissues
in which it is found, works with copper, zinc and manganese.
SOD's presence allows nucleotide generation to become more effective
(ribonucleotide reductase radical generation involves SOD and
Catalase.) Cell regeneration of enzymes and proteins is dependent
upon nucleotide populations. Without the presence of Super Oxidase
Dismutase, these populations would be greatly diminished, and
cellular health would eventually fail, becoming old before their
time. SOD eliminates the highly reactive and hence destructive
superoxide radical that can inactivate ribonucleotide reductase.
