Papaya Oil (Papaya Leaf)
Papaya has many functions. First,
when topically applied, this fruit is rich in Alpha Hydroxy
Acids, known to be effective antioxidants for the skin as well
as to encourage the natural sloughing of the skin. High in potassium,
Papaya Oil can act to soothe and relax the skin, aiding in the
natural opening of the pores to allowing expulsion of unwanted
substances and promote the healing process of skin infections.
One popularly quoted case in South Africa involved a postoperative
infection that wouldn't yield to antibiotics. Strips of Papaya
laid over the wound healed it within 48 hours. Papaya Oil is
another favorite oil used in the West Indies for years and is
renown for its curative and soothing properties to the skin

Secondly, the leaf and fruit both contain papain and chymopapain,
sulfhydryl proteases (enzymes) that hydrolyze (digest) proteins,
small peptides, amides and esters (breaking down various structures
within protein), and whose digestive activity also extends to
carbohydrates and fats. Papaya enzymes are useful for all stomach
complaints including related problems of inadequate fat digestion,
liver and bile duct ailments and pancreas disease. Papaya has
acquired the reputation of a new "biological scalpel" because
it selectively digests dead tissue without affecting the surrounding
live tissue. Papaya Oil, as well as other digestive enzymes,
is useful therefore when the body is injured and requires a
"clearing" or eradication of the dead cellular material, relieving
inflammation and edema/swelling, often reducing protrusions
and relieving the pressure of wounds that produces pain.
