Maltase or alpha-Glucosidase is
an enzyme made by the mucous membrane of the intestine that
is responsible for the breakdown or hydrolysis of the complex
carbohydrate Malt and malt sugars. Maltase is found in a variety
of organisms, including plants, yeast, bacteria and humans.
