Lemongrass (Gramineae, Cymbopogon citratus)
Lemongrass is a tender perennial
grass which grows mostly in the tropics, at times reaching a
height of 6 feet! Paradoxically, its light watery-oil is very
effective in cleansing oily skin, acting as a dispersing agent,
and possibly aiding the body's natural resources, staying the
over production of oil, as well as being useful in relaxing
and supplicating the tissue. Lemongrass is often used in cooking
and is well-liked for its light taste. Less commonly, lemongrass
is used for the central nervous system as a weak depressant.
Because lemongrass is high in citrol, it is helpful with rheumatism,
digestion, muscle spasms and cramps, and headaches.
