Ivy (Ivy Extract, Hedera helix)
Although the ancient Greeks were
said to use ivy to prevent intoxication of alcoholic beverages,
today ivy is primarily used for cosmetic purposes. It is known
for its properties to soothe the skin after sunburn, but perhaps
most notably is that it nutritionally helps disperse trapped
fluids and substances in the fight against cellulite. Further,
ivy increases circulation, and when applied topically it tightens
and tones the skin. This ingredient is also said to have anti-fungal,
molluscicidal, anthelmintic properties. Ivy extract is sometimes
called Hedera helix extract.
