Glucose
Glucose is a simple, sweet, sugar
(monosaccharide) derived mostly from plants and from the metabolism
of carbohydrates in the Kreb's Cycle in the body's biochemistry.
This ingredient is found liberally within the blood plasma and
is used as a major energy source for the brain and the body,
the latter for short term needs. However, it is especially important
for proper brain function. Glucose is also used as a tablet
binder and coating agent, replacing glycerin in many pharmaceutical
preparations. This ingredient is often found as both a crystal
and an aqueous solution.
