Gentain (Gentiana lutea, Gentain Root, Yellow Gent
Gentain is an herb of southern
and central Europe generally grown as an ornamental in gardens
because of its wondrous yellow flowers. Extracts from its flowers
and roots are also thought to aid in digestion and help stimulate
digestive secretions. Gentain is also found as one of the main
ingredients in many preparations of "bitters," "angostura bitters"
being one of the most prominent, it has also been found to demonstrate
choleretic (bile producing) activity in animals.
Gentain is used as an additive in many frozen ice cream and
dairy products, candy, baked goods, gelatins and puddings as
well because of its curious flavor enhancing abilities. This
ingredient is used as a Homeopathic or simply as a micro-nutritional
(botanical). Homeopathic potencies accredit their strength and
efficacy to the electromagnetic signatures of the original substrate;
these are scientifically created dilutions and succussions of
medicines such that generally not even a molecule of the original
