Fennel (Fennel Extract, Umbelliferae, Foeniculum)
Fennel is one of the oldest cultivated
plants known upon the planet and is used widely in cooking.
It was much valued by the Romans and Roman women used it to
keep themselves slim. Fennel is one of the nine herbs held sacred
by the Anglo-Saxons for its "power" against evil. Further, Charlemagne
declared in 812 A.D. that fennel, because of its miraculous
healing properties, should be found in every garden. Recently,
fennel, taken internally, has been found to be useful in ridding
the body of toxins known to accumulate because of drug and alcohol
use. Fennel, known to reduce the puffiness of face, is also
used in fine quality cosmetics.
