Damiana (Turnera aphrodisiaca)
Damiana was named "mizib-coc" (or
plant for asthma) by the Maya Indians of the Yucatan, and
used for pulmonary lung disorders and for treating vertigo
(dizziness). It is also known to arouse sexual desire and
to be a sexual rejuvenator especially when experiencing a
loss of vitality in the sexual organs. For men, Damiana has
been useful in increasing sperm count and helps overcome exhaustion
quickly. For women, it has been useful in strengthening the
reproductive organs as well as helping with the symptoms of
both PMS and menopause by controlling and reducing hot flashes
in the latter.
Damiana is one of the herbs of choice for
helping with sexual impotency and infertility with both males
and females, helping to balance the hormonal system of both
sexes. It also seems to stimulate muscular contraction of
the intestinal tract. Damiana is thought to be a safe stimulant
of the central nervous system.
