Butylene Glycol (with Alistin)
Butylene glycol is used as a preservative
and stabilizer in cosmetic formulas with active organic ingredients.
With Alistin, a hydroglycolic solution with carcinine hydrochloride,
the resulting compound has universal antioxidant activity, also
an antiinflammatory effect (as in Alistin, a pseudodipeptide),
and inhibits linoleic and phosphatidylcholine liposomes perioxidation
initiated by O2 iron ascorbate system. It also demonstrates
an anti-glycation effect: antioxidative properties allow it
reduce the oxidative cross-linking.
With Alistin, there is displayed a quite different action of
antioxidative activity because of its bivalent ability to reduce
the lipids perioxidative forms (unsaturated fatty acid, of the
phospholipids membrane) and to protect the hydrophilic molecules
( e.g. Carbohydrates, DNA). The Alistin biological activities
can fully express themselves at mucous membrane and skin levels
due to its resistance to enzymatic deactivation in opposition
to Carnosine. Like Carnosine, Cacinine has an antioxidant effect
in hydrophilic mediums, protecting hydrophilic targets from
