Bromelain
Bromelain is derived from the
pineapple fruit and is one group of peptide hydrolases or enzymes.
Bromelain is classified with papain, ficin, and asclepain, being
useful in the breakdown and digestion of proteins. This ingredient
is said to have antiinflammatory properties, and use of bromelain
may reduce healing time, bruising, swelling, pain following
surgery and physical injuries, as well as soothing burns and
such skin issues. Bromelain is also said to help coughs, stuffy
nose, and other sinus issues. Further, this ingredient is said
to have antibacterial properties, helping combat infections.
Bromelain is purported to aid in digestion and promote overall
digestive health.
