Boswellia Serrata
Hailed for over 2500 years in
Ayurvedic medicine in India, Boswellia serrata is still seen
as the most potent phytomedicinal for arthritis and rheumatism,
demonstrating very effective antiinflammatory and antiarthritic
results. Boswellia acts similar to nonsteroidal groups of antiarthritic
drugs with the added advantage of its being free from side effects.
The tree exudes a gummy oleoresin which can be tapped by scrapping
away a little of the bark. The resinous extract from this bark
has shown itself in a number of studies to be more beneficial
than Ketoprofen (benzyl hydrotropic acid), indomethacin, phenylbutazone
or aspirin against rheumatic disease.
