Amylase
Amylase is a family of alpha,
beta and gamma digestive enzymes and is responsible for starch-splitting
or amylolytic activity that cleaves starch molecules and related
polysaccharides. This ingredient is responsible for the break
down of starch into glucose molecules. Interestingly, amylase
is also partially effective in destroying the reactivity of
histamines, a potent mediator of allergic reactions which causes
the general symptoms experienced during an allergic reaction.
Amylase is sometimes used for allergic reactions from bug bites,
foods, and more. A diet high in starch can lead to a deficiency
of amylase, and symptoms of this include hypoglycemia, cold
hands and feet, and general fatigue, among others.
