Herbal Ayurveda
Herbal ayurveda is an ancient form of Eastern medicine that developed in India and remains one of the oldest medicinal concepts that is still practiced today. It remains a staple in modern medicine throughout India, and is becoming an increasingly popular alternative therapy in Western cultures. Like many medicinal practices from that region of the world, herbal ayurveda focuses heavily on the concept of energies. Practitioners believe that the entire universe, including the human body, is made from elemental energies and that everyone has a unique personal energy called a dosha.
From time to time, for a variety of reasons, it is believed that a person's dosha can become unbalanced. This is believed to have the potential to result in illness, injury, and disease if not corrected. Herbal ayurveda is the most common remedies for this problem. There are many herbs that are used in an effort to help balance in a variety of different forms:
- Teas
- Ointments
- Supplements
- Cooking spices
- Many others
Herbal ayurveda is still widely practiced not only in India where it was founded, but also throughout the world. It is considered to be one of the most popular and effective alternative treatments by its proponents, and is quickly becoming a go-to complement to traditional medicine.
