An
Effective Weight Loss Pill is Advertised in Many Forms
Millions
of people who are trying to lose weight would jump at the chance
to try an effective weight loss pill. The question is: does an effective
weight loss pill exist over the counter today? The answer to this
question is debatable, but here is a sample of weight loss pills on the market today which claim to be effective:
Bitter
orange: Often marketed as a substitute for ephedra, bitter
orange contains synephrine and octopamine, two stimulants believed
to have effects similar to ephedra.
Chitosan:
In a weight loss pill, chitosan is supposed to be effective in binding
with dietary fat in the intestines, thus blocking fat calories from
being absorbed into your system. Research suggests that chitosan
only blocks about 10 calories per day from being absorbed, which
to many dieters would not make chitosan an effective weight loss
pill ingredient.
Green tea
extract: While more studies regarding green tea and weight
loss need to be completed, green tea extract in weight loss pill
form seems to be effective in increasing metabolism.
Hoodia:
Hoodia is a class of flowering, cactus-like plants originally found
in Africa. One Hoodia species, Hoodia gordonii, has been used by
tribal communities for centuries as an appetite suppressant. While
Hoodia gordonii seems to be an effective appetite suppressant when
eaten raw, there is no clear evidence that Hoodia makes an effective
weight loss pill. Scientists have said it is difficult to isolate
Hoodia’s effective ingredients in weight loss pill form.
The search for
an effective weight loss pill is an elusive one. Whether it suppresses
appetite, increases metabolism, or blocks absorption of calories,
each weight loss pill usually targets one of many difficulties faced
by dieters.
