Ways of Controlling Anger

Like love and sadness, anger is a natural emotion. Every human being feels anger and expresses it through their lives. The question is how do they express it? Although anger is a normal feeling, the way a person conveys the emotion can either lead to understanding or disaster.

If you have an anger problem and would like to find a few ways of controlling anger, we can help. One of the first suggestions is relaxation which is simple, yet effective in controlling anger. Relaxation can be achieved by breathing in deeply and imagining yourself in a serene environment. Repeating a word or mantra like “relax” can help put you in a calm state. Yoga is also a great way of controlling anger.

Aside from relaxation, a form of controlling anger is to change the way you think. Basically, if you become explosive and overly dramatic when you’re angry try thinking more rationally. Realize that it is OK that you’re frustrated; getting angry won’t solve your problems and it won’t make you feel better.

Changing your environment is another way of controlling anger. If you’re fuming and you feel trapped by your surroundings, go to another room for a few minutes until you calm down. Also, be certain to give yourself personal time to, for example, wind down from your day before handling household tasks.
