Calcium
and Magnesium Supplements and Diets as a Home Remedy for High
Blood Pressure
If you suffer from high
blood pressure, also known as hypertension, or other heart
and health ailments, often times the easiest and most effective
way to treat and prevent future problems is through your diet.
While most nutrients and vitamins can be easily fit into a
diet, many are also available in convenient and easy to take
supplements. Two of the most helpful vitamins
for heart health and regulated blood pressure are calcium
and magnesium.
- Calcium – Most commonly found
in cow’s milk and dairy products, however many people
are lactose intolerant or choose not to include dairy
products in their diets for other health reasons. Calcium
helps to build strong blood vessels and heart muscles
and can also be found in:
- Collard greens
- Sardines
- Green peas
- Baked beans
- Salmon
- Oranges
- Kale
- Goat milk and goat dairy products
- Magnesium – Most abundant in
dark, green, leafy vegetables like spinach and in fruits
such as bananas and avocados. Magnesium helps to relax
blood vessels and aids in their elasticity and can also
be found in food such as:
- Soy products
- Legumes
- Seeds
- Nuts
- Whole grains
If you still find it difficult
to add these foods into your healthy diet, there are a variety
of supplements available that can help you get sufficient
amounts of magnesium and calcium. Always consult with your
doctor before you begin a new supplement or diet.
