About the Ingredient EDTA
A key ingredient in oral chelation is EDTA (Ethylenediaminetetraacetic Acid). EDTA is a synthetic amino acid used to treat heavy metal and lead poisoning. It is often utilized in intravenous (IV) chelation therapy, which takes bi-weekly sessions over several months. But EDTA can also be consumed daily in small oral chelation doses. U.S. Navy sailors successfully used EDTA orally during the 1940's for treatment of lead toxicity when they had to live onboard their ships during lead-based painting.
EDTA is also thought to help treat:
- Circulatory disorders
- Coronary artery disease
- Angina
- Gangrene
- Iron poisoning
