Amino Acids and Nutrition Help
Maintain Vital Body Functions and Overall Health

Amino acids, linear chains that link together to form proteins, are the building blocks of all life. They are also important to your body’s biochemistry and metabolism, and therefore amino acids and nutrition go hand in hand in helping maintain many of your body’s vital functions, as well as your overall health.

Amino acids are differentiated as either “essential” or “nonessential.” Amino acids designated as nonessential are not unnecessary; it simply means your body can synthesize them on its own. Essential amino acids are those that your body cannot synthesize on its own, and therefore you must consume these amino acids through nutrition – either in your diet or through supplementation. If your body is not receiving a full complement of both the essential and nonessential amino acids, it will be unable to create protein, the basic structural material of all cells. Without sufficient protein, your body can suffer a number of problems.

Thus, the importance of amino acids in nutrition is clear. Eating right can help you obtain all the amino acids your body needs, as there are plenty of protein-rich foods, such as meat, poultry, fish, legumes, nuts, and seeds, which can help your body obtain amino acids. However, it can often be difficult to ensure that your body is replenished and fully stocked with these important amino acids. Therefore, supplementation can be an excellent method to help make sure your body gets the amino acids it needs.

Regardless of how you obtain your amino acids, these building blocks of life are important in regulating many of your body’s vital functions. Amino acids and nutrition are very much linked, as one method of acquiring the necessary amino acids is through a healthy and well-balanced diet or supplementation.
