Each
Allergy Symptom May Be Mild, Moderate, or Severe
Whether
you have one allergy symptom or a dozen, allergies can make
you miserable. The typical allergy symptom will begin in
your airways or in your digestive tract, and there are a
couple reasons for this. First, the cells in your body producing
histamine—the chemical causing your allergy symptoms—are
abundant in your airways and digestive system. Second, an
allergen will probably enter your body when you breathe
it in or consume it, which would obviously bring your first
allergy symptom to your nose, mouth, or stomach.
No
matter what causes your allergies, an allergy symptom may
be labeled mild, moderate, or severe. The following is a
list of mild to moderate allergy symptoms which could be
caused by any number of allergens such as pollen, dust
mite allergy, or food:
- Watery
eyes
- Itchy
eyes
- Itchy
skin
- Itchy
or painful throat
- Cough
- Hives
- Skin
rash
- Nasal
congestion
- Sneezing
- Difficulty
breathing
- Stomach
pain
- Nausea
- Mouth
tingling
- Swelling
of the mouth, face, throat, or tongue
- Facial
pain or pressure
While
uncomfortable and painful, each mild to moderate allergy
symptom is usually not life-threatening and may be treated
through natural
allergy relief. There are rare cases, however, when
an allergy symptom can be deadly. This severe allergic reaction
is known as anaphylaxis and it affects the entire body.
Anaphylaxis may begin with a mild allergy symptom like a
swollen or itchy face, and then it can quickly advance into
more serious complications such as difficulty breathing
and loss of consciousness.
Some
people may experience their first allergy symptom in infancy
while others may not have an allergy symptom until they
are in their forties or fifties. More often than not, once
an allergy symptom begins in your body, the allergy will
continue for a lifetime.
