Allergy Control Products: A Red Light for Allergens, a Green Light for You

There are at least two approaches to helping allergy symptoms: stop the symptoms of an allergy after it starts, or stop the allergy from occurring in the first place. Often, people must use both of these approaches together to achieve the results they desire. Allergy control products generally fall under the second group—stopping your allergy from occurring in by blocking your body from allergens, the particles that trigger your allergy symptoms. Examples of allergens include dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and mold.

Allergy control products are quite effective at reducing allergens inside a home. Common allergy control products for the home are encasing kits, allergy-free pillows, special laundry detergent, carpet treatments, vacuum cleaners, air cleaners, mold fighters, and allergy-free toys.

Encasing kits are allergy control products that cover a mattress, pillow, couch, and other furnishings. By encasing furniture in clean, allergen-free cloth, you can prevent allergens from settling into your home environment. Encasing kits are washable and are sometimes treated with antimicrobial compounds to increase the encasing kit’s effectiveness.

Allergy-free, or hypoallergenic, pillows are another example of popular allergy control products. Hypoallergenic pillows may be made from a variety of materials including down feathers, silk, cotton, wool, and synthetic fibers. Even though they may be made by different fabrics and fillings, these allergy control products are constructed in a way that blocks allergens like dust mites and mold particles. In addition, hypoallergenic pillows are often made without dyes, chemicals, glues, and other synthetic materials that trigger allergies for some people.

Anti-allergy laundry detergents have helped many individuals whose washing machines are on the front line in helping them battle allergies. How can you turn your washing machine into one of your most important allergy control products? First, anti-allergy laundry detergents are usually free of dyes, fragrances, and other irritants. Second, anti-allergy laundry detergents are able to neutralize dust mites, pet dander, pollen, and molds in any water temperature.

There are many other allergy control products available that have offered people new and creative ways to prevent their allergy symptoms. Since there seems to be no one product that “cures” allergies, allergy control products provide a crucial defense against allergens.
