According to the year 2000 Diagnostic & Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders

pencils, books, or tools).

Someone with ADHD may not demonstrate all of the above ADHD Symptoms, but if
diagnosed should demonstrate a majority of them. Also, from DSM-IV-TR is a list
of ADHD Symptoms specifically for hyperactivity and impulsivity:
ADHD Symptoms-Hyperactivity
Fidgets with hands or feet. Squirms in Seat.

ADHD Symptoms-Impulsivity

A symptom is not considered a true indicator of ADHD unless it has existed
for at least 6 months. There are three types of ADHD: Combined, Predominantly
Inattentive, and Predominantly Hyperactive-Impulsive. In the Combined Type of ADHD,
the individual usually demonstrates both Attention Difficulties and Hyperactivity
ADHD Symptoms. In the Predominantly Inattentive Type of ADHD, the individual primarily
demonstrates Attention Difficulty ADHD Symptoms. Finally, in the Predominantly
Hyperactive-Impulsive Type of ADHD, the individual demonstrates both Hyperactivity
and Impulsivity ADHD Symptoms, but does not demonstrate any Attention Difficulty ADHD
Symptoms.
